On this episode of “5 Award Winning Minutes With,” our host, Stephen Seidel of The Seidel Agency, takes the time to speak with an inspiring entrepreneur doing great work in our community. In this segment, Stephen speaks with Dave Landis of Wenjulan Whole Body C.A.R.E.

Wenjulan Whole Body C.A.R.E. was born in New Mexico in 2020, by Dave Landis, after his wife was diagnosed and treated for cancer. Inspired by both her experience with cancer, along with the beauty and nature of the Southwest, Wenjulan Whole Body C.A.R.E was formed to create natural, non-carcinogenic, toxin & fragrance free, premium body care products to support healthy lifestyle journeys and benefit those who have been affected by cancer and/or alopecia.

How do you set yourself apart from other firms in the area?

During her cancer treatment, Dave and his wife became very concerned and strict about the ingredients they chose to use and consume, in all elements of their lives, and quickly realized there was a gap in the market of body care products that truly supported those who have been directly, or indirectly, affected by cancer and alopecia. (Alopecia, a disease of its own, is also a well-documented side effect of many cancer treatments and, as Dave’s wife experienced first-hand, can take a large emotional toll on those it affects). Inspired by the health benefits, beauty and natural elements of the Southwest United States where they call home, Dave set out to create a line of premium eco-luxury body care products that were made of the cleanest and most natural ingredients possible, free of carcinogenic chemicals and artificial fragrances, to benefit those who have been affected by cancer and/or alopecia, as well as those who simply choose to live a healthy lifestyle. Being philanthropic people, Dave and his wife also wanted to make sure to support the research being conducted, into the cures of both cancer and alopecia, and created the principle of C.A.R.E. which stands for Cancer and Alopecia Research Endeavor. To assist in that research, a percentage of every Wenjulan product sold is donated to foundations researching cures for both cancer and alopecia.

What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?

That is a bit of an open ended question, being that can be answered both from a professional standpoint as well as a personal one.

How do you define success?

This is also a question that also has no truly simple answer, as there is of course the financial version of success, but there is also the personal version as well.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?

I wouldn’t weigh one lesson over another. I’ve learned and continue to learn a tremendous amount and each lesson that does hold significant value for me does so at the moments that they need to be applied. So, again, I can’t put more status on one lesson over another – each one is important dependent on their individual circumstances.
