Welcome back to another episode of Ask the Expert, where we highlight experts in many industries who are making an impact. I’m Morgan Yonge, joined today by Jeff Rountree with the Rountree agency powered by one Point Insurance Partners. Jeff, thank you so much for joining.
Speaker 2
Hey, Morgan. Thanks for having me. It’s good seeing you again. Thank you.
Speaker 1
Good to see you and having you back on the network. So give us the rundown a little bit about what your agency is all about.
Speaker 2
Yeah. So we are, strictly commercial insurance focused, so we don’t do homeowner’s personal auto. We are strictly commercial insurance with a focus on, like, your service contractor. So, like your Hvac, electricians, plumbers, things of that nature, manufacturing. But we specialize in the worker’s comp side and just the building, the whole package for a business owner to kind of just run their business.
Speaker 2
Right. Well, we’ll take the back into that stuff for them.
Speaker 1
It’s so nice as business owners have so much on their plates, safety violations they have to be aware of. And all the hats that they wear that you guys can take that, you know, off their shoulders. So how do you guys help them, you know, alleviate that extra stress?
Speaker 2
Yeah. So, good question. I’ve been at this for about 17 years now and, worked with a lot of business owners. And, you know, whether it’s a restaurant or a contractor, you know, when they wake up in the morning, insurance is very far from their brain.
Speaker 2
You know, it’s who’s showing up to work today. Do we have supplies that the food order come in? Did the bills get paid? I mean, it’s every hat that you can imagine, that they’re changing throughout the day, and there’s a lot of stuff within there that that we help with.
Speaker 2
To help either take that off or pass it on somewhere else. And in a lot of instances, we can do that. And it helps retain revenue in their pockets.
Speaker 1
So what is it that really makes you guys stand out from the rest of the insurance industry?
Speaker 2
Especially when we go and you’re talking safety, right? If we’re talking OSHA audits or we’re talking injuries, there’s a lot of things we can do to help retain revenue.
Speaker 2
So some of that is, helping the light duty programs, return to work programs. These are all things that when you’re in a worker’s comp claim or a worker’s comp prop, process that can drive up the cost, which, again, there’s only one place that comes from which which is their revenue.
Speaker 2
So we’re very much, insurance background, but we’re more on like preventative. And then again, how does the owner keep as much revenue as they can while still passing that risk on to the insurance carriers?
Speaker 1
Absolutely. That’s perfect sense because everyone wants to save money where they can. No one wants to be dishing out crazy amounts of money for insurance. But when it matters most, we want to make sure that you have their backs so OSHA violations can come out of thin air. What are some other areas that you found? A lot of people don’t think they need insurance, but they really do.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I’d say it’s, you know, our industry is very focused on speed to quoting and just really placing policies and not really looking at the business itself.
Speaker 2
The daily processes where we can help in a lot of instances with safety, OSHA audits, OSHA logs, helping navigate worker’s comp claims with light duty, programs and return to work programs, which helps retain revenue.
Speaker 2
Right. And in my industry is very much just about price and, and how fast they can get it quoted and sell it where for us, it’s really looking at it from the business owners eyes of, you know, how do I retain as much of this revenue as I can and but still have my coverages, you know, where they need to be.
Speaker 2
So that’s probably the biggest thing is we flip that insurance, process on its head to, to really dive or dive deeper into the business, side of things, to help us build the insurance side, if that makes sense.
Speaker 1
Yeah. And thank you for your expertise on that. That was kind of leading into my next question was, as the expert, what else in those fine details could we be missing, especially here in Florida? Do you focus on just Florida or are you all over?
Speaker 2
Yeah. So when you get into the details of the insurance, that’s where business owners get in trouble.
Speaker 2
So if you don’t have someone like us that really dig into it, I’ll give you a perfect example. So let’s say I have an electrical company that has eight trucks, okay. And they’re their employees. Take those vehicles home every night.
Speaker 2
But the policy has it where they show all the trucks are at the business. That small detail becomes a big problem, because if that truck gets damaged at that home, the carrier now has the ability to just deny claims, push off claims, and you’ve got a problem.
Speaker 2
Yeah, premium is relative, but if you have a policy with a bunch of gaps in it and it’s written incorrectly, the premium is almost useless because you have a big, huge problem behind you right now.
Speaker 2
So the carrier doesn’t like that. So that’s just another one of the little things, right, when you’re talking how we can find gaps.
Speaker 2
While we’re here in Florida, I am a Florida boy. I’ve been born here in Tampa, and I’ve been here my whole life. But, no, we do, we have clients in Georgia, and the Carolinas and Tennessee and Texas. We’ve got a couple in Arizona, so we’re we’re a little bit.
Speaker 2
But mostly our focus is Florida, specifically Florida.
Speaker 1
Yeah, absolutely. Well, thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us today. Did you made it make sense to me and, knowing nothing about insurance, that means a lot. So thank you for your time.
Speaker 2
That’s, Thank you, Morgan. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1
Absolutely. And, viewers, thank you for tuning in to another episode of Ask the Expert. If you want more information on Jeff Rowntree, head on over to Ask the Expert TV.com. And we have it all right there. We’ll see you in the next episode of Ask the Expert.
