Short company description:

Strive Youth & Family Services is a Florida-licensed organization dedicated to helping children in foster care with autism and developmental disabilities thrive in safe, supportive, and structured home environments. Strive combines behavioral support, life-skills development, recreation, transportation, and individualized care to help each child build independence, stability, and a brighter future.

What is a tip for success that you would provide someone in your same industry?

Always lead with whats best for the client you are serving.

What volunteer experience has impacted you the most?

Providing presents for kids in foster care.

What’s one cause you’re passionate about?

Creating better futures for children in foster care with autism and developmental disabilities, especially children whose behavioral and support needs make it difficult for traditional programs to serve them.

How do you encourage your team to make a difference?

I connect the job to the mission. My team has to understand that their work matters and without them the most vulnerable population cannot be served.

Tell me a time you failed forward and what you learned from the experience

When my wife and I started Strive we opened and closed within 2 months. We reopened but we learned that we needed to focus on a particular group of kids that we know we can provide the best service for.

What are your biggest obstacles and barriers to success?

My biggest obstacles and barriers to success is myself. When I look at where I started with the company and where we are now I’m constantly asking myself is this luck or are we really that good at what we do.

What is the proudest moment of your leadership career?

The proudest moment is whenever a new case worker tells me good things they have heard about our group home without talking to me first to tell them about what we can offer kids needing placement.
