Morgan:
Welcome back to another episode of Buzzworthy Businesses, where we highlight businesses who are making an impact. I’m Morgan Allen, joined today by the gentlemen of Waymaker. Please introduce yourselves.

Scott
I’m Scott:, co-CEO of Waymaker.

Luke
I’m Luke, co-CEO.

Richard:
I’m Richard, the VP of Operations.

Morgan:
All right. So Luke, we’ll start with you. Tell me a little bit about Waymaker, what you guys do, how you got started. I want the lowdown.

Luke
Okay, so you ask a big question there. There’s a lot. So I’ll start with just what do we do.

So we think of it as almost a marketplace of labs, really helping people connect to some opportunities from a personalized and preventative medicine perspective.

So we focus on genetic testing. We focus on the health and wellness segment and helping people navigate this really complicated segment.

And people get confused. There’s so much out there, so we really can help them navigate it through some different testing that we have. They can really dial in to making it a personalized approach for them.

Morgan:
Okay. So what’s the first step here? You just get your bloodwork done, you send it in, and then you guys help guide them through. Tell me a little bit of the process.

Luke
Yeah, I think it’s much less invasive than that. Really, literally just a cheek swab.

So you can come see us, click on our site, order. We can either dropship it or if you’re here locally in Jacksonville, you can pick up at our wellness clinic.

And we do a cheek swab. And within 7 to 10 days you will know specifically personalized to you what supplements you need to be on, what peptides, and what wellness products you need to be on.

Morgan:
Wow. This will save so many people, so many consumers. I mean, I have a whole cabinet full of supplements and vitamins.

I love longevity and wellness and trying to live the most optimized life as a CEO and just as a business leader and athlete.

So but I have a whole cabinet full of these supplements.

So we can now get you specific supplements that are catered specific to your body, not just treating symptoms.

This is exciting because I love Andrew Huberman. I listen to it like all the time.

So this is really cool. This is optimizing every bit of your biomechanics.

Luke:
Yes. The problem is that so many of these influencers in the biohacking space will just tell you what these things do based off symptoms, and it’s not a one size fits all for every person’s DNA.

So we look at 129 gene sequences in your body and tell specifically to you, Morgan, how you need to look at supplements and wellness products.

Scott:
Yeah, a big part of that too is we walk you through a very personalized questionnaire because for you, your goals, your outcomes may be completely different than the next person.

So depending on exactly what you want, that allows us to really cater to your needs.

Morgan:
Okay. So all of you have done the cheek swab, all the testing.

You all have 20 vitamins to take every day or what does this look like day to day?

Scott:
I think the beautiful part was what not to take anymore.

You know, my body’s optimizing perfectly in this area. Get on this specific supplement over here.

Quit wasting money on this NAD peptide that your body doesn’t methylate properly.

So it was really about what not to take. So actually very few.

Morgan:
That’s great. That’s really good to know.

Okay, so tell me about the operation side of things. What are you seeing as far as the industry from lab space?

Richard:
Yeah, I think Luke hit on it really well.

There’s a lot of influencers out there. There’s a lot of podcasters out there. I love Huberman as well.

I have implemented some of his findings from studies.

After doing the test, 50% of them were completely irrelevant to my genetics, and I learned new things.

So I think for a consumer or even for a provider, sometimes hashing through the noise and trying to figure out who really knows what they’re talking about.

And even if they know what they’re talking about, does it work for my specific patient?

So I think Scott and I had something on our test where we can only process methylated B12 and methyl folate.

So for years I’ve been spending money on B12 vitamins, drinks, and things like that.

My body can’t process it. Literally just gets rid of it, doesn’t absorb it whatsoever.

The amount of money that I’ve spent on that.

But if you look at B12 and studies, it’s great for us. It’s in our food.

Being able to pinpoint the type of B12 that are needed, that’s just one example of helping me sift through all the noise and actually get to here’s what works for Richard.

Morgan:
Yeah, a little bit of taking the guesswork out of it.

Luke:
Exactly.

Like for me, with my genetics, I’m a very slow processor of caffeine.

So until I saw that objective data, I had a bunch of people tell me throughout my life I should probably lessen my caffeine consumption.

But once I really saw it in writing, what it was doing, keeping my heart rate elevated, causing long term health issues, immediately that day I cut my caffeine consumption in half.

So it’s not just vitamins. It’s really the whole approach of looking at the blueprint of your body.

Morgan:
Yeah. I love that analogy.

Instead of just checking the oil on your motor, let’s do a full diagnostic, look at it and see how that thing operates and where we can make it more efficient.

So many people I know, I’ve gone to functional medicine doctors for years with fatigue and brain fog and all the things that you want to optimize.

But it took me years of bloodwork.

So this gives you the blueprint inside the motor to say hey, don’t wait for something to be off.

We’re telling you now.

Morgan:
That’s fantastic.

So you guys are a faith based company too?

Scott:
Yes.

Morgan:
I love that. That’s really big on my heart.

So peptides are on the rise. Teach me about peptides because there’s so many different.

Luke:
Yeah, we’ll take a stab at it.

The easiest way to explain is that the very first peptide was insulin.

So insulin is something that we produce naturally in our body, but if you’re diabetic you don’t produce it in the right amount.

So you take a small shot each day to level it.

Peptides are short chain amino acids. They occur in nature.

As we get older, our body doesn’t produce them at the right amount anymore.

So whether it’s inflammation, recovery, brain fog, energy levels, getting the right peptide therapy can help improve functionality of your life.

Morgan:
I love it. That’s really cool.

And you can do it all from a cheek swab?

Scott:
Yes.

Anywhere between 7 to 15 business days.

We give you two reports, one is 110 pages long.

Then we summarize it into a simple plan of what to do and what not to do, including foods.

Morgan:
So one time test for life?

Scott:
Yes. Your genes stay the same.

Morgan:
That’s incredible.

Okay, will it break the bank?

Scott:
What do you think it costs?

Morgan:
I want to say $600.

Scott:
You’re close. $700.

Morgan:
Okay, wow.

Well thank you guys. I’m definitely going to invest in my health.

Scott/Luke/Richard:
Thank you.

Morgan:
And viewers, thank you for tuning in to another episode.
